Zlatibor mountain

 

Zlatibor mountain is the most popular tourist resort in West Serbia, about 220 km from Belgrade, where we will visit unique open air ethno museum "Old village"in Sirogojno and Stopica Cave with its fantastic cave jewelry and underground river. Photo of the limestone of Stopica cave took first place on Wiki Loves Earth photo competiotion 2016! This is also a destination for a real gourmet, where you can taste prsuta (smoked ham), kajmak (a creamy cheese spread delicacy), “komplet lepinja”, tea made from mountain herbs and, of course, a shot of traditional drink “sljivovica” – plum rakia. Last stop on Zlatibor is visit to Gostilje waterfall - a favorite place of many nature lovers.

Uvac lake canyon

 

Uvac Lake Canyon – a breathtaking nature of the reserve Uvac is one of the most beautiful places in Serbia and a top destination for true nature lovers. Uvac river forms the three lakes (Uvac, Zlatar and Radoinja) and we will visit one with the most beautiful meanders, take a cruise ride tour and enjoy the view from the vantagepoint in the Uvac canyon. This place is also home to protected bird species - the griffon vulture and we are bound to see lots of these nature cleaners. Also, you are going to explore the Ice cave and it's beautiful stalactites, in case level of lake is good and cave is accessible.

 

ITINERARY:

 

DAY ONE: Departure from Belgrade in the morning 8 AM, a ride to Zlatibor mountain with refreshment breaks. Visit to Stopica Cave and open air ethno museum "Sirogojno", sightseeing. TIme for lunch in authentic ethno surroundings. Visit to Gostilje watefall. Departure to our accommodation in apartments on the Zlatibor/Zlatar mountain.  Overnight stay. 

DAY TWO: After the breakfast transfer to Uvac lake where we start with the Uvac lake cruising (total cruising time is around 2 hours), visit to Ice cave (40 min) and 2 km hike to vantagepoint (1 hour). Departure to one of the restaurants on the Uvac lake for coffee/lunch break and taking some time to round up imressions...Arrival in Belgrade in the late evening (at around 10 PM).

Equipment needed: a change of dry clothes, a  hat, a sun cream, spare  footwear, swimming and hiking gear...
